Introduction of our guests (please limit your introduction to < 1min.)
‘Restoring the Republic at the Ballot Box: The Constitution Party IS Rasmussen’s figurative Tea Party’ – Michael Dawson, party Chair
‘The Continuing Change of the Political Climate: A Survey and Analysis of the MA Special Election for the U.S. Senate’ – Michael Bertocchi, party Vice chair State Vice Chairman Michael Bertocchi talking points for Saturday, January 23, 2009, Constitution Party of Maryland meeting Topic #1 – Tuesday, January 19 Massachusetts U.S. Senate election result Unfortunately, the Constitution Party didn’t have a candidate in the Massachusetts Senate race. Massachusetts Republican U.S. senator elect Scott Brown became the first Republican senator from that state since 1979. He defeated Democratic candidate Martha Coakley on Tues. Jan. 19 along with a Libertarian candidate who got 1%. Brown, according to his website (http://www.brownforussenate.com/issues), says he opposes to the health care legislation that is under consideration in Congress and will vote against it. He feels it will raise taxes, increase government spending and lower the quality of care, especially for elders on Medicare. Obama and the senators who want to force government run health care on us will now have to compromise with senators who support letting us chose our own health care Regarding the idea of a bailout tax for banks that used taxpayers’ money, Brown says he’s against the tax because the banks will increase ATM fees and there will be less money to lend to small businesses and people who want to buy homes - www.boston.com/news/local/brea ... 0/01/in_interview_co.html He’s anti-life regarding abortion. However, he agrees that partial birth abortion shouldn’t be allowed. Scott Brown believes in strengthening our border enforcement and would institute an employment verification system with penalties for companies that hire illegal immigrants. The newly elected Senator feels that sanctioning Iran is the best way to deal with them until they stop their nuclear ambitions. He opposes meeting with Ahmadinejad because he thinks a meeting would embolden him.
Topic 2 – Obama & Independents Independent voters once again played the crucial role in Scott Brown’s win much like they did in the New Jersey & Virginia November 2009 Gubernatorial races won by Republicans. 60% of independents in the New Jersey race voted for Republican candidate Chris Christie and 66% of independents in the Virginia race voted for Republican candidate Bob McDonnell. These voters made up around 30% of everyone who voted in those two states. The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News Poll shows that only 41% of independent voters approve of President Obama. He won 52% of independent voters on Election Day in 2008. Obama only has a 49% approval rate among all voters However, polls also show that only 25% of independents feel positively about the Republican and Democratic parties. Therefore, the Constitution Party must actively pursue these voters if we are to win more races. This means raising money, fielding candidates, and informing people through the mainstream media, Tea Parties and town hall meetings, our website, social networking sites like Face book and Twitter, etc.
Topic # 3 – Maryland Registration numbers Constitution Party – 279 registered Maryland voters as of November 30, 2009 which is the latest statistics. This is up from 262 registered voters as of October 31, 2009. However, there are around 850 other people who wrote Constitution Party, Taxpayers Party (this was our name until 1999), Right to Life, etc. We will mail letters to them. We started with only 25 registered voters on August 31, 2008, which was the first month we were recognized as a political party in Maryland. 14% of Maryland registered voters are considered unaffiliated as of November 30, 2009. Q & A: party platform, being a candidate, getting involved, etc. Adjournment

If you are a Carroll County resident and would like to help in organizing at the county level, we would encourage you to join in the movement sweeping the nation - Taking back our Nation! In our system of government forged by our Founding Fathers and sealed in the blood and toil of our soldiers, that process is at the ballot box. This is also a state meeting and we welcome everyone across the state to join us and encourage Carroll County as we continue to build and grow the party. Let's make your county the next one to organize and recruit candidates to challenge the "old guard" in your county seat, at city hall, on your elected school board - wherever there is an elected public servant. Star-Spangled Banner
Introduction of State Central Committee officers
Introduction of our guests.
A young couple
A radio/politico type networker - affiliate 10th. Amendment Group
A middle aged man with laptop/laptop computer
A middle aged man self-described as a home improvement contractor
Candidate's wife, Patty
our friends Son
Our friend and the Candidate, Alain Lareau plus three State Committee Officers.
THIRTEEN TOTAL in attendance. The young couple seamed very intrigued and were glad they came.
The laptop man seemed to confuse the Conservative Party website with the Constitution Party website, but seemed interested none-the-less.
The networker guy wanted to emphasize the need to blog and post announcements for Constitution Party meetings on his sites; he had great interest in the young man presence.
The contractor requested a more detailed description the Constitution Party's platform, activity and scope.
‘Restoring the Republic at the Ballot Box: The Constitution Party IS Rasmussen’s figurative Tea Party’ – Michael Dawson, party Chair
The Chairman's introduction emphasized the Constitution Party as the vehicle for Tea Party Movement and the objective of a balance and brake against extremes as the Framer's goal and both the Main Party's views tilt to the side of tyranny.
‘Why I Decided to Run & What are my Passions’ – Alain E. Lareau, Jr., Constitution Party candidate for the 3rd Congressional district
The need to heal the people, we have been tricked into fighting each other and we need to stop that and admit it and heal.
The need to elect candidates that wont sell out to the money as BOTH the Democrats and Republicans seam to have been doing for a long time.
The need to build a grass roots leadership that can get 'ahead of the curve' of the massive mass strike upheaval on the horizon.
The inclusiveness of the Constitution Party by which only a reasonable earnest devotion to the source of our nation is requested, albeit amateurish for people provoked to run for public office as a novice.
That for myself, to make choices for what kind of topics to champion comes from a trust in self that intellectual work done in ones life is sufficient to ask others for their trust and support, and that other people must start to consider themselves capable and trustworthy when looking to where their passions lie and run for office as well.
I am passionate about ending NAFTA, ending the FED, and developing nuclear energy! I also stand in solidarity with the party's seven key issues.
Alain Lareau Congressional Candidate in Maryland's 3rd district

Constitution Party approves Lareau in 3rd Congressional run The Constitution Party of Maryland announced yesterday that the state party has successfully vetted Alain E. Lareau, Jr. of Columbia as a Constitution Party candidate in the 2010 general election. Party Chairman Michael Dawson stated, “The Executive Committee is thrilled to have Alain who intends to contest the United States House of Representatives seat, currently held by John Sarbanes, in the Third Congressional district.” Now that Alain has received the Constitution Party’s authorization, he intends formally declare his candidacy with the Maryland Board of Elections. Alain said, “Running under the Constitution Party banner fits my core beliefs, and will allow me ballot access, assuming I am eventually nominated at the nomination meeting in July.” Lareau, an electrician by trade, adds, “I fear for my children's future and I have decided to fight.” He went on to explain how he sees his effort fitting into a larger picture. “I envision a state-wide slate of candidates poised to take back our state, our country, and our liberties.” Lareau has begun building his campaign and web site. Inquiries may be addressed through the Constitution Party of Maryland. The Constitution Party of Maryland continues to field potential candidates, and encourages all Marylanders, who hold liberty sacred, to step-up and challenge the unconstitutionality of our present system. The party is currently conducting introductory interviews of potential candidates for any and all elected offices. The Constitution Party of Maryland will hold its next monthly open meeting in Frederick at the Urbana Regional Library; 9020 Amelung Street in Frederick on Saturday, December 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
